JARRYD ELIAS | Biography

Jarryd Elias (b. 1993) is an award-winning, multi-faceted composer, whose number-one priority is to support and elevate every project. Being versatile in many different musical styles allows him to collaborate with any director effectively, providing the best score possible. In addition to his composition career, he is an active member of high-level music departments, serving an orchestrator or music copyist.

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Jarryd began his musical journey as a percussionist playing in a multitude of settings, ranging from classical symphonic to rock and jazz bands. He continued with his percussion education at the Eastman School of Music (2015), earning a Bachelors in Percussion Performance under world-renown percussionist and composer Michael Burritt. Soon after, Jarryd’s interests were drawn towards composition, traveling to Seattle to earn his Masters in Film Scoring at the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program (2017), studying under two-time Emmy winner Dr. Hummie Mann (Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Picture Windows).

Jarryd’s composition work has received critical acclaim. His film scores have gone on to win best original score awards at various festivals. His work on Rolling Across America (Docu-Series) and Enchanted, LLC received nominations for the 2018 Jerry Goldsmith Soundtrack Award and the 2019 International Sound and Film Music Award, respectively. In television, Jarryd has written music for Chrisley Knows Best (USA), Dancing Queen (Netflix), Sell It Like Serhant (Bravo), and a multitude of movies airing on the Lifetime Network. Jarryd's concert works for percussion as well as orchestra have received honors as well. In 2018, he received the Luminosity Orchestra's Young Composers award for his composition The Rain Maker: Suite for Orchestra. His percussion compositions are performed regularly around the world, notably Hero's Journey (written for solo Timpani and electronic playback), is a recurring repertoire option for the Italy Percussive Arts Society Timpani competition.

When not writing original scores, Jarryd serves as either and orchestrator or copyist in various music departments in the Hollywood music industry. Some of his projects include Deadpool 2, The Spy Who Dumped Me, S.W.A.T. (2017-), and Timeless, as well as serving as a copyist for Steve Juliani Music, working on scores for Christopher Lennertz (Shaft (2019), The Boys, Ugly Dolls) and Austin Wintory (The Banner Saga 3, Erica).
