JARRYD ELIAS | Biography

Based in Los Angeles, Jarryd Elias is an award-winning composer, orchestrator, and conductor whose melody-driven, orchestral style combines timeless symphonic traditions with modern scoring techniques to create music that feels classic yet sounds contemporary.  His work spans film, television, and video games, with credits that have reached audiences worldwide.

Jarryd’s recent scoring work includes the upcoming documentary Horses Always Tell The Truth: The Making of a Dance (2025), featuring an hour of original orchestral music including a 30-minute continuous ballet sequence; the thriller Final Recovery (2024); and Murder on Maple Drive (2021).  He has also contributed additional music to the acclaimed video game Guild Wars 2 for its expansions Secrets of the Obscure and Janthir Wilds.  His score for the short film Beverly Hills Exorcist earned Best Original Score at both the Indie Short Fest and Creation International Film Festival (2023), a nomination for Best Original Score: Short Film at the International Sound & Film Music Festival (2024), and a Silver Medal for Original Score at the Global Music Awards (2023).

As an orchestrator, Jarryd has brought his expertise to some of the industry’s most recognized franchises and studios, including Deadpool 2 (Marvel), Ironheart (Marvel), Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (Universal), Despicable Me 4 (Illumination), Star Wars Outlaws (Video Game), The Night Agent (Netflix), Dept. Q (Netflix), and more than a dozen albums for Warner Chappell Production Music.  On the podium, he has conducted for both studio sessions and high-profile live events, serving as special guest house conductor for the Deadline Sound & Screen Concerts, where he has led music by Hans Zimmer, Pasek & Paul, Marc Shaiman, Carlos Rafael Rivera, Siddhartha Khosla, Volker Bertelmann, Tim Phillips, and others.

While his primary focus is composing for the screen, Jarryd’s work extends to the concert stage, with performances of his piece Hero’s Journey (for Timpani and Electronics) worldwide and a 2023 commission for the fanfare Gridiron Glory for brass and percussion.  He is a past winner of the Luminosity Orchestra's Young Composers Competition (2018) and an alumnus of the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive (2020), where he recorded his work with a 60-piece orchestra at Warner Brothers Studios under the guidance of Angel Velez, Conrad Pope, and William Ross.

Jarryd holds a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music in Film Scoring from the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program, where he now serves as a composition and orchestration advisor.  He remains an active member of the Los Angeles music community, contributing to film, TV, and game music preparation at the highest level.

When not in the studio, Jarryd enjoys life in Culver City with his partner Jan and their dog Boots, often taking long walks for ice cream downtown.  In the fall, you can find him cheering on his beloved Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions.  Go Blue, and Go Lions!
